Cerium oxide, also known as ceria or cerium (IV) oxide, is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula CeO2. It is used as a catalyst in refineries, for the production of catalytic converters, in glass manufacturing, and in the optical industry. Cerium oxide also has excellent properties as an abrasive agent for polishing glass and metals.
